A Global Message from Myrtle Beach
This weekend, I hopped a plane and headed to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to be with a group of women that I had never met.
This past spring, Dr. Marnelle Alexis Stephens who is the Chancellor of MacCormac College in Chicago, Illinois contacted me about presenting at an inaugural conference in Myrtle Beach for her newly founded organization, Global Christian Professional Women’s Association (GCPWA.) GCPWA is a nonprofit organization that exists to foster the professional and spiritual needs of Christian and professional women globally.
Now! Since we have gotten all of that out of the way…
This past weekend was THE BOMB! (Hmm, do the young folks even say that anymore?)
I had the opportunity to present comedy and encouragement based around one of my favorite life messages – unity. What a remarkable feeling to look out into a ballroom filled wall-to-wall with women of all shades, ages, and backgrounds, listening, absorbing, and celebrating the brilliance and beauty that happens when we come together.
As I was preparing to go on after lunch and then host the remaining second half of the event, I was particularly struck by a sentence that I heard from the stage that pierced my heart like an arrow.
Tabitha D. James, a millennial entrepreneur, educator, and philanthropist said these words into a microphone...
“It’s not where you begin, it’s where you belong.”
Wow! I actually caught my breath when that ‘arrow’ reached its target.
Yes, that’s it! No matter where you start, your journey to find the place where your soul longs to be – the place where you were destined to walk – ahhh, that’s what matters. A message that I have spent years sharing.
Your beginning is only a place for your story to be birthed. A place where your journey springboards into what you decide to make it.
But the place where you belong, well, that’s another story.
THAT, my sister, is where your journey meets your purpose. And it’s worth every step to get there - and every ‘arrow’ that drives it deeper!
So, take a minute.
Catch your breath.
And then together, let’s take another step…
